Afghan President Hamid Karzai inaugurates capital's first five-star hotel. The Kabul Serena Hotel cost $36. 5 million and was developed by the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. The 177-room, three-storey hotel is near Karzai's presidential palace in the heart of the capital, Kabul.

A man, dubbed "Toe Sucker" by authorities, is back to his criminal ways, after sneaking into an Indiana apartment Sunday night and stealing money before touching a sleeping resident's feet. William Russell was arrested at a hotel not long after he allegedly entered a Greenwood apartment and stole $52 while its occupants slept.

The son of Miami's police chief is arrested for trying to buy 400 pounds of marijuana from an undercover federal agent. 25-year old Sean Timoney of Philadelphia reportedly gave the agent a gym bag filled with about $450,000 in cash. Sean is the son of John Timoney, who was Philadelphia's police chief before becoming Miami's chief.

The massive security force deployed by Argentina to stand watch during a presidential summit this week was ambushed Wednesday, by a surprise attack of food poisoning. According to police commissioner, Daniel Rodriguez, at least 70 federal police officers in charge of guarding the beach resort hotel were overcome with bouts of diarrhea and vomiting after dining on bad lasagna at a nearby hotel late Tuesday.

Indian police charges a Finnish tourist for bathing naked in a holy lake in a Hindu pilgrim town. Police say the tourist walked to her hotel in the nude after bathing in a lake in Pushkar located in the desert state of Rajasthan. The act has angered several local residents and priests.
