A man aimed and shot at his own son after mistaking him for a burglar attempting to creep into his home at night. Mohd Sobri realized he shot his own son, 18-year-old Mohd Zulfaqor Mohd Sobri, after the teen started screaming about how he was shot in the leg. "It was dark and I only saw a silhouette," Sobri said according to the AFP. "My son did not turn on the lights and I thought it was a thief who had broken into our house. "

A local woman attempted to exit a pet store with a boa constrictor hidden inside her pants to avoid paying for the animal. Reports from the staff of the Preuss Animal House said that the woman had most probably grabbed the snake while the employee's back was turned, quickly stuffed it inside her pants and exited the store.

Fourteen members of a Russian doomsday cult returned to civilization on Tuesday after six months of living in a primitive underground cave. They were anticipating the end of the world in May. A total of 35 people entered the cave in early November to await the end of the world, which they said would happen in May. They told authorities that they would detonate gas canisters if police tried to remove them by force. Vice Governor Oleg Melnichenko said the cult's underground hillside shelter, which was built in the Penza region, about 400 miles southeast of Moscow, had collapsed around dawn Tuesday due to melting snow.

A couple who moved into a house in Spoleto three years ago are now threatening to file a lawsuit against the former owners, who according to them did not mention that the house was haunted. The couple, Gaetano and Stefania Bastianelli, said that the house that they paid €120,000 (US$190,000) for at first seemed like a bargain deal, with all the furniture and even the kitchenware left over.
