A couple who moved into a house in Spoleto three years ago are now threatening to file a lawsuit against the former owners, who according to them did not mention that the house was haunted. The couple, Gaetano and Stefania Bastianelli, said that the house that they paid €120,000 (US$190,000) for at first seemed like a bargain deal, with all the furniture and even the kitchenware left over.

ubergine has bumped off sprouts as children's most hated vegetable, according to 2,300 kids polled by Heinz. Based on survey results, some 39 percent dislike the dark vegetable. Eggplant has replaced the once most hated vegetable, which is now in second place - brussel sprouts, disliked by 37 percent of the children. The third most hated veggie is celeriac at 32 per cent, followed by cabbage (16 percent) and mangetout (12 percent).

Authorities at a woman's house discovered a black python that they said might have been in the residence for two months, without the woman's knowledge. Officers from animal control received the report from the woman, who had been living in her apartment for two months, was watching television when the snake slithered out from behind the set.

Almost 50 people reportedly lost their sight after staring at the sky in hopes of catching a glimpse of the rumored image of the Virgin Mary. Officials of India's Kottayam district reported a total of 48 individuals experiencing the condition, after medical examinations determined that their retinas were burned from staring at the sun. The cases had reportedly been constantly coming in since Friday last week.

Auction house Sotheby's said Wednesday that rare and precious gemstones are generating a strong following in the Asian region. This as Sotheby's unveiled a 72-carat, flawless white diamond set to be hammered off for $10 million to $12 million in the upcoming Asian sale. Quek Chin announced that this D-color, white stone will be the third largest "pear-shaped" stone ever auctioned globally and the most expensive diamond ever sold at auction in Asia.
