A house bought for less than one dollar located in the former slum area in North Benwell, Newcaste, Tyne and Wear in England, has been sold for over $280,000. Salik Uddin said his family took advantage of a housing project by the council of North Benwell and bought the house 1999 for less than a dollar.

Eighteen prisoners from an Indonesian jail succeeded to escape by using a self made pepper spray. Though 15 of the inmates were recaptured later but three are still at large. Aspan Nainggolan, a police spokesman on Tuesday said the incident happened Sunday during breakfast time when the inmates detained at Pematang Siantar Penitentiary in North Sumatra province used chili liquid held in plastic water bottles to attack the guards. The prisoners grabbed their keys and escaped, he said.

Housing Authorities have asked a 73-year-old doll collector to part from her passion or she will be evicted from her studio apartment. The officials say that the doll collection cluttered the public housing apartment and is a fire hazard. Emily Gibbons has been collecting dolls for 15 years, amassing about 200 of them in her small apartment. The dolls are a medium of happiness for the woman who at times picks one up just to remember the way a baby feels in her arms.
