A wanted Mafia member's attempt to alter his physical appearance to elude police has failed when he was arrested at a liposuction clinic in the Calabrian city of Consenza. Police served the warrant of arrest on Domenico Magnoli, 27, of the Ndrangheta clan, when he woke up after the operation to remove fats on his stomach and thighs. The member of the powerful 'Ndrangheta clan, which is notorious for using the huge Gioia Tauro container port for its drug trafficking business, is also wanted by the French police for drug trafficking activities in France.

The cost to Canadian taxpayers to keep Prime Minister Stephen Harper safe since 2006 was estimated at $30 million. The Canadian Press obtained the data through Access to Information laws. According to the statistics it got, the security bill on Harper's first year in office reached $10. 7 million, which went up to $13 million the next fiscal year. Partial estimate for the current fiscal year places Harper's security cost at $5. 6 million.

The video game, small freeware PC action game allows the player to be an American whose job is to murder all Muslims using a huge arsenal of weapons.

British hospitals are under attack from a variety of pests, according to reports obtained under U. K. 's Freedom of Information Act. From January 2006 to March 2008, almost 20,000 incidents of infestations were reported by the National Health System. They included sightings of rats, mice, fleas, bedbugs, ants and cockroaches.

The European Union wants members of the 27-member bloc protected not only against lung cancer from cigarette smoke, but also deaths caused by cigarette fire. By introducing self-extinguishing cigarettes, 2,000 lives could be saved in the EU annually, the EU Commissioner for Consumer Affairs said. The German Fire Departments' Association supported the initiative.
