A dog's carcass is to blame for a massive sewage back up in Provo, Utah authorities say. Authorities blamed the back-up on the dead dog stuffed down a sewer manhole and then opened a criminal investigation about the incident. They found the dog's owner from an identifying chip implanted in it. The owner says the dog has been missing.

Dan Noonan-Day has set a lemonade stand near his home to raise money for the victims of Mississippi, Alabama, and New Orleans. One of his customers, Carole Wilkinson, paid a dollar for her drink, saying every penny makes a difference.

Hilary Duff pledges to contribute $250,000 to help Hurricane Katrina victims on the Gulf Coast. A statement issued by publicist Cece Yorke says the 17-year-old singer-actress will donate $200,000 to the American Red Cross and $50,000 to USA Harvest, which is providing food to shelters.
