The Army Corps of Engineers has received more than $3 quadrillion in bills from victims of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. Although about 489,000 people have filed damage claims, one filed from an area nearly a 100 miles from the hurricane's center is causing jaws to drop. A resident of Baker, La. is demanding the U. S. government pay $3 quadrillion. Last year, the nation produced $13. 2 trillion of goods and services. According to the AP, a stack of $3 quadrillion worth of pennies would stretch to Saturn.

Angered by another lawsuit he considers inappropriate, Nebraska Democratic State Senator Ernie Chambers has sued God last week. Chambers says he's trying to make the point that anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody. Chambers says in his lawsuit that God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents and thus can be sued in Douglas County because He's everywhere.

The hurricane season in Florida scared an 8-year-old child to such an extent that she decided to go back to Ohio where she moved from, on her bicycle. When the girl Heather Snoke was not found for long found at her home in Deland, Fla. , her parents got worried and notified the police in the evening. According to police reports, the girl's father John Snoke drove around the neighborhood looking for his daughter but did not find her.

The word-trend group Global Language Monitor named the top television buzzwords of the year on Sunday. The two words - ""Truthiness" and "Wikiality" - both come from Stephen Clobert's political satire show "The Colbert Report. "Every year The Global Language Monitor conducts a survey to uncover the TV words that have impacted language the most. Some other top words include "Katrina," referring to continuing stories about the hurricane's devastation; "Katie," referring to Katie Couric's new position as nightly news anchor role at CBS News; and "Dr. McDreamy," a reference to a character on the hit medical show "Grey's Anatomy. "

Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson says he now believes in global warming because of the heat wave that is punishing the U. S. He says on an airing of the "700 Club," "We really need to address the burning of fossil fuels. . . It is getting hotter, and the icecaps are melting and there is a buildup of carbon dioxide in the air. " Robertson says the heat index, which reached 115 Fahrenheit in some areas, is "the most convincing evidence I've seen on global warming in a long time. "
