An animal rights group has urged a U. S. ice cream maker to follow a Swiss restaurant's lead by using human breast milk instead of cow's milk in making its products. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) made the call in a letter to the owners of Vermont-based Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc. on Tuesday.

The Italian mountain climber who has been rescued after an avalanche hit the world's second highest peak Friday is under the care of a rescue team and waiting for a helicopter to take them out of K2. Marco Confortola, 37, was the last rescued among the 22 mountain climbers washed away by the avalanche. Some of the mountaineers fell to their deaths, others froze, while 11 are still missing and presumed dead by now.

Results of lab tests on soil samples dug up in the Red Planet's north pole have confirmed the soil contains ice water. Scientists of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) here announced in a press conference Thursday the findings transmitted by the Phoenix Mars Lander, which analyzed disappearing bright chunks in Martian soil Wednesday.

Rocky Aoki, a former wrestler who founded the restaurant chain Benihana, died here Thursday night. Cause of death was not given, but the 69-year-old Aoki has said publicly that he suffered from diabetes and cirrhosis of the liver, as well as hepatitis C that he said he contracted from a blood transfusion.

On a hot summer the ice cream vendor is the modern Pied Piper of Hamelin and various states are not about to let sex offenders use the trade as their way to lure children. Several states are now working on bans against allowing sex offenders. The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in California, as one example, is planning to draft an ordinance that would prohibit convicted sex predators from driving ice cream trucks after one was found last summer in Perris.
