Two Planets Discovered By Astronomers

Two new planets similar to Jupiter and Saturn, were discovered by scientists, revealing an entirely new solar system 5,000 light years away from our own. The scientists, led by astronomy professor Andrzej Udalski, of the Warsaw University observatory, discovered the solar system by first detecting the presence of the star, which they identified to be smaller and much cooler than our own. An overlapping of the star and another much farther one visible from Earth resulted in the 500x magnification of the farther star. Discovered by the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE), the phenomenon was dubbed OGLE-2006-BLG-109.

Boys Stick Tongues To Frozen Flagpole

Trying to duplicate a scene from the movie, "A Christmas Story," two fourth-grade boys ended up with their tongues stuck to a frozen flagpole. According to reports, Gavin Dempsey and James Alexander were on flag duty at Jackson Elementary School Friday morning, when the pair decided to test whether their tongues really would really stick to the freezing metal as what they've seen in the movie.

Police Stuck In Icy Water After Chasing Robber

A police chasing a robber ended up being the one rescued along with her entire squad after getting ditched in the icy water of a Lake Balaton in Hungary. According to reports, policewoman Ani Kosut was chasing a robber through the ice when she accidentally fell in the freezing waters of the lake in Szigliget, a Hungarian town famous for Castle Hill easily recognizable with the Middle Ages Castle ruin crowning it.

Candles Banned In Ice Church

Authorities in a Romanian church carved entirely out of ice has ordered a ban on candles from its parishioners to keep the structure from melting. The 200-foot church located in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains overlooking the Balea Lake had been fully-booked wedding and baptism ceremonies that candles have been burning almost non-stop damaging the church interior.

China Unveils First Playable Ice Piano

The world's first playable ice piano has been unveiled at the 20th International Snow-Sculpture Art Expo in Harbin city. According to local reports, the ice piano, which was designed and built by a local landscaping company, can automatically play more than 30 classic piano pieces.
