A man who was more afraid of fellow drug dealers than he was of the law was arrested after the 68 pounds of cocaine he had reported missing was found by Boy Scouts. Leroy Carr, 46, told Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents that he had stashed two blue backpacks full of cocaine by the entrance to a Boy Scout camp near the Canadian border on Aug. 3, but when he went back the next day to get them, they were gone.

Rotimi Adebari made history yesterday, becoming the first black mayor elected in Ireland, winning the election to lead Portlaoise, a busy commuter town just west of Dublin. Adebari, 43, a native of Nigeria, migrated to Ireland in 2000 with his wife and two sons, claiming political asylum based on religious persecution, although his application was rejected because of insufficient evidence.

After a four-year struggle to get a European Union visa, an Egyptian man had a nervous break-down at the Cairo airport and tore apart his passport, minutes before boarding a plan to Milan, Italy. The debacle ended the young man's hope of entering Europe. Other travelers noticed the young man talking to himself vaguely and then storming off into a breakdown, which caused him to tear his passport apart. The fresh Humanity Studies graduate had gone through a long and hard process to get the visa.

In lieu of a down payment, one woman traded her five-month-old baby for a used Dodge Intrepid. Nicole Uribe, 23, was arrested on suspicion of felony trafficking in children after she gave her child to a couple. Jose-Juan and Irene Lerma were arrested on the same charges for accepting the trade.

The prediction is in: The 300 millionth American will be a Latino baby boy born in Los Angeles to a Mexican-Immigrant mother, according to demographer William Frey. The U. S. Census Bureau also made a prediction -- that the 300 millionth American will be born by 7:46 am on Tuesday.
