A lawyer in the Indian city of Bhopal has filed a Public Interest Litigation case against Bollywood actors Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan for their kissing scene in an Indian movie, accusing them of obscenity.
The lawyer, Shailendra Dwivedi of Indore, near Bhopal, the capital of central Madhya Pradesh state, said the kissing scene in the movie, titled "Dhoom 2," degrades the position and dignity of Indian women and sets an obscene example for youth.
"Bollywood actors are conveying vulgarity in the society," Dwivedi said, according to Reuters. "These films cannot be watched with our families, they are so vulgar at times."
The lawyer's petition has been accepted by a local court and the case has its first hearing scheduled for December 11.
The Indian censor board, which certifies all films, released "Dhoom 2" with a "parental discretion" certificate.
