An Indian man reportedly showed up alive at his own funeral after his brother and nephew mistakenly identified a corpse in a hospital morgue as his.

Frankie Synnah, who hails from Mehghalaya, was reported missing by his wife Bold Kharjana after he did not return on December 27.

According to AP reports, police informed his wife that there was a body that matched the man's description in the morgue. The man's brother and nephew were sent to check and they identified the body as Frankie's.

However, the unidentified body has now been returned to the morgue.

The father of seven children said he had actually traveled out of town and had been unable to contact his family from the friend's home where he was staying.

His wife says his return has made her "the happiest person in the world."
