A woman from India's north eastern state of Assam is hoping to set a world record by eating a maximum amount of chilies in the least time. If successful, Anandita Dutta Tamuly will also be the world's first person to eat a massive quantity of the world's hottest peppers.

Tamuly, 26, has been invited by the advocates of Guinness World Records to London to see how many Bhut Jolokia peppers she can eat at one sitting.

Bhut Jolokia peppers, native to Tamuly's home state, have been recently confirmed by Guinness as the world's hottest peppers. The pepper was brought to light by a horticulture professor at New Mexico State University, and was found to be 100 times as hot as an average jalapeno.

According to AP reports, Tamuly is very confident at winning the record for, as per her, she has been eating Bhut Jolokia since her childhood.

Tamuly has already created a record back home by eating 60 of the chilies in two minutes, according to AP.

The current chili-eating record is being held by a South African woman, Anita Crafford, who ate eight jalapenos in a minute in 2002.
