Inmates at an Indian prison are refusing to leave because the food is so good. Filled at more than twice its capacity, the Parappana Agrahara prison in Bangalore is serving food prepared by ISKCON, or the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, a Hindu evangelist organization. Small-time crooks are refusing to apply for bail, swelling the ranks of the prison to 4,700. Also, juvenile offenders are lying to the police about their age to get into the adult prison, according to the AFP.

There have been claims by many villagers in the remote north eastern Indian village about spotting "bigfoot"-type hairy giants, who are huge and are roaming in the jungles. Prompted by numerous such claims, the authorities in the area have ordered an investigation into the sightings in the Garo hills area of Meghalaya state, close to the borders with Bangladesh and Bhutan.

A man from the Indian state of Chennai is bidding for a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records by inserting live snakes into his nostrils and then pulling them out of his mouth. Manoharan, who goes by the name "Snake Manu," has reportedly been performing the feat for quite a few years. According to a local journal, Manoharan threads two tree snakes - several inches long and as thick as a finger - through his nostrils and opens his mouth wide to pull them out.

In a bid to promote HIV-AIDS awareness in the city, a government agency in the north Indian city of Chandigarh has opened a "Condom Bar" where instead of small change for bills, patrons are given packs of condoms. Standing true to its name, the bar has a condom logo featured on everything inside from the glasses used for serving drinks, interior decoration and waiters' uniforms.
