A pet shop owner who is a native of Serbia is facing imprisonment when the 6ft snake he left inside his car as an alarm, escaped and caused panic to the public. Radovan Rarkic, who owns a pet shop in Belgrade, Northern Ireland said he left the snake in his E-Class Mercedes because he could not afford to buy an alarm system. He said he always leave the snake inside the car every night to make sure that no one would steal his precious possession.

The local airline Flybe played cupid to a lovestruck man who was smitten with a fellow passenger on board a flight from Belfast to Newcastle. Reportedly, Michael Young was seating in 2C, while Juliet Lever was in seat 2B during the flight. Young engaged Lever in a conversation during the flight but was too shy to ask for her number.

Prisoners in Ireland and Italy will play an intergral part in a full-scale production of the opera "La Boheme. " Opera Ireland plans to use sets and costumes designed and constructed by the inmates in its commercial venture. The high-security Maiano jail in Perugia, Italy has worked in partnership with Dublin's Mountjoy Prison to put the project together.

A public toilet in Dublin could bring in almost 300,000 euros ($384,000), almost the price of a new house owing to its sea facing location - a surfing beach on Ireland's rugged Atlantic coast. Martin Conway a local politician says, "You could leave the toilet block and be in the sea in less than 40 seconds. "

Man is vain in nature. At least that is what scientists in Dublin, Ireland have found after examining prehistoric bodies found in the peat bogs of Ireland. The Times says at least two prehistoric bodies, which were estimated to be 2,300 years old, showed evidence of male grooming.
