'Black Friday' took a violent turn as over-zealous shoppers trampled a Walmart worker to death in Long Island, NY at 5am. The 34-year-old Queens man died after 'hundreds' of people broke down the doors and flooded the store.

Two men shot and killed each other at a crowded Toys "R" Us store in Palm Desert, Calif. , adding to the nationwide violence that marred the busiest shopping day of the year, known as "Black Friday. "Alejandro Moreno, 39, of Desert Hot Springs, and Juan Meza, 28, of Cathedral City, were found dead at around 11:30 a. m. outside the store.

Wildlife officials in Australia said Sunday that 150 whales stranded on a remote coastline in Tasmania island, died after being battered by strong waves on rocks while rescuers frustratingly tried to save them. Rescuers from the Tasmania state's Parks and Wildlife Service rushed to the remote site at Sandy Cape in an effort to save an estimated 12 whales spotted Saturday injured but still alive. However, the whales have died by Sunday.

The U. S. Postal Service has begun pilot testing the use of a three-wheeled electric vehicle in delivering mail in Key West, Florida to reduce its carbon footprint. The Key West Post Office's T3, which is similar to the two-wheeled personal transporter Segway, has two mail compartments on its sides, pulls a small trailer and is equipped with a GPS and solar-powered anti-theft alarm system. It is easy to maneuver and can fit into narrow alleyways and some sidewalks.

Archaeologists uncovered what they think is evidence of the campsite of a ship-wrecked sailor said to be the inspiration for Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe. The archaeologists' findings were published in the journal Post-Medieval Archaeology.
