A couple who moved into a house in Spoleto three years ago are now threatening to file a lawsuit against the former owners, who according to them did not mention that the house was haunted.

The couple, Gaetano and Stefania Bastianelli, said that the house that they paid €120,000 (US$190,000) for at first seemed like a bargain deal, with all the furniture and even the kitchenware left over.

The Bastianellis, however, claimed they were not told that the house was built near the Pozzi Ginori cemetery, or that it had an eerie history that included an exorcism in the 1970s, and a visit from the Perugia University's paranormal research team.

Mr. Bastianelli recounted that the strange occurrences started even on their first night in the house.

He continued that the tap was gushing out hot water, despite his wife distinctly remembering that she turned off the faucet, and everything else, before retiring to bed.

The incident was followed up the next day by a green luminous mould appearing on the walls, the sound of rattling chains and a combusting lawn mower, all of which scared their 10-year old daughter.

The ANI reported that a local historian, Sergio Grifoni, said that an exorcism on a little girl did in fact take place in the house in 1977.
