Traditionally, typhoons were cursed natural phenomenon that people pray would never hit their region. However, in the Philippines, a country hit by an average of 25 destructive typhoons annually, weather forecasters, and even the government, were praying that the typhoon slated to hit the country before changing course would turn back and hit landfall. Nathaniel Cruz, chief weather forecaster of the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Seismology Administration (Pagasa), said that tropical typhoon "Chedeng" was supposed to hit northern Philippines this week, but it changed course and is now headed towards Taiwan.

The first of some 29,000 rubber ducks that have been circling the world's oceans for 15 years are expected to wash up on a beach in England sometime soon. The toys fell overboard from a cargo ship bound for Seattle from China in 1992, according to the BBC.

A new kind of bathroom paper has been showing up in Japan. Envelopes containing 10,000 yen , about $82, are being found in municipal toilets across Japan. Japanese media have estimated that more than $16, 400 has been found in men's rooms in city halls in at least 15 prefectures in recent weeks.

Money is definitely not grown on trees but in Japan, it is being found flowing freely in municipal toilets. The civil servants in 15 prefectures (states) in Japan are baffled over the discovery of envelopes containing 10,000 yen ($82) bills and well-wishing notes in municipal toilets. State run media reports that a nationwide hunt is on to find the source of nearly two million yen ($16,400) worth of bills that were discovered at many men's rooms in recent weeks.

A pet products company announced today that Japan will receive its first nursing home for dogs. The elderly dogs will receive round-the-clock monitoring by doctors and puppies will help to keep the aging dogs happy and lively. 20 dogs at a time will be accepted by the home. Owners will pay 98,000 yen or $800 a month to keep their elderly pets in comfort. The facility will be named Soladi Care Home for Pets according to Soladi and the Endo Veterinary Clinic in Tochigi, eastern Japan.
