Sadly or not so sadly depending on your viewpoint i think i can say with plenty of confidence that IF these jeans with the out-shown thong became even near in danger of being a hit every government run institution within 10,0 miles in the United States would ban them.
Eventually the problem would make its way to congress or some bureaucratic trade commission with the power to ban them entirely from the U.S. more likely, and laws would be passed very quickly to make their importation illegal and wearing them in public in daytime illegal if not making them illegal completely. And I'll tell you why those laws would be passed quickly, because the baby boomers are still alive and kicking and while the government might be brave enough to put an upper age limit on driving in the future they will never get away with an upper age limit for votes.
So if a politician even gave a hint to a bunch of horrified conservative baby boomers that he or she liked these jeans the old farts would vote them out of office pretty quick. thats not even counting the voters whom are young /middle aged and would likely take the same position.
So i wouldn't worry, the above will never happen if the jeans become a big hit, so those who want them can have fun with them in private and those who don't want them, probably wont see them out in public anyway unless they live in Las Vegas or New Orleans! It would take a special kind of crazy female to wear those out in public in the states without being doped up or almost to drunk to walk!
