Police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old Japanese woman after she allegedly bit a police officer in the leg during a traffic stop. The woman has been charged with obstructing police and could also face a drunken driving charge.
According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun, the woman was stopped by police in Toyohashi, Aichi prefecture, after she flashed her lights at a patrol car at about 3:50 a.m. on Friday.
Police said the woman, who is a contract worker for Nagoya Broadcasting Co., was drunk and made loud, meaningless statements about a recent hostage standoff in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture.
The newspaper reports that the woman, whose alcohol level was above the legal limit, then bit the left thigh of a 29-year-old senior officer. The wounds on the officer's leg are expected to take up to two weeks to heal.
