The Hayabusa, a Japanese space probe, failed to touch down on an asteroid, developing trouble just above the surface. The Hayabusa probe developed similar trouble during a rehearsal landing earlier this month. Its mission was to touch down on the asteroid, collect samples from the surface and bring them back to Earth.
