A judge on Monday dismissed a harassment charge against a teenage boy whose 78-year-old neighbor accused him of repeatedly "meowing" at her. Alexandra Carasia said that every time she went outside the 14-year-old would meow at her like a cat.
The boy's mother said the family had owned a cat they had to get rid of after Carasia told police it was using her flower garden as a litter box. The boy claimed he only meowed at his elderly neighbor twice, but Carasia testified that the meowing occurred every time they they encountered each other.
Although the judge heard the case in August, he said he would wait 90 days before ruling to see how the two neighbors were getting along. He dismissed the charge, but not without a reprimand, telling the teen his actions were immature and childish.
Carasia seemed to feel the reprimand was sufficient punishment.
"I'm just glad he at least reprimanded him," she said, according to AP. "He used to be a good boy. It has done emotional harm to me. ... I was the one who was tortured."
