A judge overturned the expulsion a 14-year-old dismissed by the Pittsburgh school district in May for writing violent, profane rap lyrics.

The court says the songs weren't "true threats" against the school, and therefore were protected by the First Amendment.

According to The Associated Press, officials at the Riverside Beaver County School District felt Anthony Latour's lyrics were threats.

The American Civil Liberties Union, on Latour's behalf, claim his songs were "battle rap," in which two people try to out-rhyme each other.

In one song, Latour wrote: "So watch what you say about me, I'm everywhere son. And the word of mouth is that I'm carrying guns."
