Watching "Animal Planet" sure paid off for Erin Kemp when she decided to capture a 2 1/2-foot-long stray alligator on her own. Kemp spotted the dangerous gator in her suburban Washington, D. C. neighborhood while taking out the garbage. She immediately told a 9-year-old neighbor to get away and then got hold of her kids' guinea pig's pen and tried her best to capture the reptile.

A building owner in Cairo used a strange trick to kick out three tenants from their apartments. The owner threw snakes directly in front of their front doors, Al Akhbar, a daily Egyptian newspaper reported. The snakes crept into the apartments and scared the tenants' families and their children.

A 5-foot-long rattlesnake, which was spotted swimming in a saltwater creek, was killed by a man on a South Carolina barrier island resort after it became a threat to a family. According to UPI news, Lonnie Deal of Statesville, North Carolina said he is comfortable around snakes and collected them as a boy. But when a rattlesnake raced toward a man, his wife and three kids, he decided to kill the reptile on spot.

Many children in England are so detached from nature that they have started to believe that carrots grow on trees. According to Keith Siddorn, a farmer in Meadowbrook Farm in Broxton many children who visit his farm on tours are also ignorant about which animal pork comes from. Siddorn told the Chester Chronicle that though many of the children are aware that the source of milk is cow but when asked about beef they get confused because they do not realize the same animal can serve two purposes.

A Republican state senator punched a Democratic senator in the head in the Alabama Senate chamber on Thursday, saying the Democratic senator insulted his mother. Republican Sen. Charles Bishop expressed regret after the spat, but he didn't immediately apologize. Bishop said knocking Democratic Sen. Lowell Barron on the head was "not the way grown men solve their problems. "
