A 2-pound kitten was finally rescued from a storm drain in West Virginia, with the help of two fire trucks, five firefighters, several animal rescuers and about 250 gallons of water.

Firefighters tried coaxing it out with food and encouraging words. They also tried flashing lights and banging tools on the pipe to scare the kitten out, reported CNN.

It took 250 gallons of water through the 10- to 12-inch pipe, enough to wet the kitten's paws, for the gray tabby to rush into the hands of Firefighter Kevin Siers, who was standing inside a manhole.
