Abandoned by their mother, six tiny kittens have suddenly found themselves being taken care of by an unlikely surrogate mother - a rabbit. According veterinary nurse, Melanie Humble, 29, the bunny took the kittens after their mother left thinking her pet cat would care for them as her own.

Kitten Rescued From West Virginia Storm Drain Thanks To First Responders

A 2-pound kitten was finally rescued from a storm drain in West Virginia, with the help of two fire trucks, five firefighters, several animal rescuers and about 250 gallons of water. Firefighters tried coaxing it out with food and encouraging words. They also tried flashing lights and banging tools on the pipe to scare the kitten out, reported CNN.

Nearly 50 Cats Rescued From A House Filled With Feces

Nearly 50 cats were rescued Thursday from a one-story house in Martinsburg, West Virginia, which was filled with feces that in some areas were half a foot deep. Animal control officers wearing protective suits and air packs also found two dead kittens in the huge piles of feces. According to the rescue team, some cat feces were about 3 feet wide while in other areas the feces was 3 inches to 6 inches deep.

Mother Cat Nurses Abandoned Rottweiler Puppy

Cats and dogs are the worst enemies but a mother cat has proved this notion wrong by nursing a six-day-old abandoned Rottweiler puppy along with her own kittens. Workers at the Meriden Humane Society have named the pup Charlie and he now nurses and plays alongside the black and gray kittens recently born to Satin - the mother cat. A couple of months ago, Charlie's mother was spotted by neighbors near a road after she gave birth to two puppies; one of which was stillborn. It is believed that the presence of a stillborn in the litter makes it difficult for the mother dog to adopt the healthier pup.

Brazil Cat-Puppies Theory Debunked

A Brazilian woman was disappointed when her claim that her cat gave birth to puppies was debunked by a blood test. Cassia Aparecida de Souza, 18, said her cat, Mimi birthed three puppies and three kittens. While the claim seems far-fetched, it actually received a lot of attention by the media and the community.
