A fire alarm system that accidentally set off 'saved' the life of a 20-year-old Korean student in northern Philippines in her suicide bid after flunking in class.
Police reports said the student, a first-year student taking up Bachelor of Arts at a university in Baguio City, became upset when she failed a course.
The Korean national tied a guitar string around her neck and attached the other end to a fire sprinkler in her hotel room. However, the fire alarm suddenly set off getting the attention of hotel staff.
Security personnel from the hotel rushed to the girl's room and rushed her to the hospital.
Baguio City, the 'coolest' place in the Philippines, is "home" to an estimated tens of thousands of Koreans studying at various universities in the city.
