Wannabe newlyweds who want to get married late at night can no longer go to the county's marriage-license office in Las Vegas.
The city that calls itself "the wedding capital of the world" is closing the office from midnight to 8 a.m. While most of America is asleep during these hours, partiers in Vegas are very much awake.
Cheryl Vernon, who supervises the marriage-services office in the county clerk's department, says people can still get married at one of the city's all-night wedding chapels.
However, they will have to spend more time getting the $55 license.
Vernon says the decision to close the office late at night was not based on morality, but was a result of too few customers. Only about 15 to 30 people came into get married during a typical shift.
Jay DeLeon, manager of the Graceland Wedding Chapel, tells Reuters, "It's one of the things Vegas is known for -- you can gamble, get drunk and get married all in the middle of the night."
