'Owner Of Philippine Archipelago' Suing Jailed President Estrada For Plunder

Ousted and jailed President Joseph Estrada, who is awaiting the decision of an anti-graft court on an $89-million plunder case, is being sued for the same charge by an unlikely complainant: the self-professed owner of the entire Philippine archipelago. The inquirer. net reported on Thursday that Homobono Adaza, the lawyer of Prince Julian Tallano, who claims to be the legal owner of the entire archipelago, is lodging a complaint of plunder against the deposed president with the Office of the Ombudsman on Friday.

Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Dog's Voter Registration Case; Dog Still On Voter Roll

A Seattle woman pleaded not guilty to felony charges of providing false information on a voter-registration application. Jane Balogh, 66, registered her dog, Duncan MacDonald, as a voter last year to protest a 2005 state voter-registration statute that she says makes it too easy for non-citizens to vote. Balogh used picture of a paw print to sign the ballot for at least three election polls, but wrote "Void" on them so that they are not counted.

"Happy Meal" Comment Lands Lawyer In Trouble

A Chicago lawyer has reportedly been ordered to appear before a Miami bankruptcy judge to defend a Happy Meal comment he made to her during a hearing. William Smith, who said, "I suggest with respect, Your Honor, that you're a few French fries short of a Happy Meal in terms of what's likely to take place" has been ordered by Judge Laurel Myerson Isicoff to appear before her June 25.

Woman Battles To Save Pet Monkey In Maryland

A capuchin monkey is under the custody of the Montgomery County Division of Animal Control and Humane Treatment in Maryland, after authorities seized the animal from a woman who was raising the baby as her own. Elyse Gazewitz says her 1-year-old, 18-inch monkey, Armani, was like a baby to her and has been battling the state for custody. A Maryland law forbids possessing a "nonhuman primate," including monkeys, as a pet.

New York Doorman Files $2 Million Lawsuit Against Former Employer

A New York doorman has filed a $2 million lawsuit against his former employer after losing his job claiming he was wrongly accused of stealing a fellow doorman's holiday tip. Sutton House doorman Viorel Cincu is suing the hotel owner and the couple who gave his co-worker the $400 tip. According to the New York Times, the hotel where he worked claims to have a video evidence of Cincu stealing the tip from a co-worker's tip envelope.
