Russian fishermen planning to use dynamite to catch fish accidentally blew up a train instead. Explosive fishing is illegal in Russia but still very popular because the blasted fish are stunned and float to the surface, which leaves them easy prey to be scooped from the water for consumption on the dinner table.

A Cornell University horticulturist research says that giving some plants diluted alcohol stunts the growth of a plant's leaves and stems but doesn't affect the blossoms. William Miller, director of Cornell's Flower Bulb Research Program, reported his findings in the April issue of HortTechnology, a peer-reviewed journal of horticulture.

One man finds himself single again, after talking in his sleep. According to a Reuters report, citing the Press Trust of India, a Muslim couple has been told by local Islamic leaders they must separate after the husband "divorced" his wife in his sleep.

A German court has ruled that employees attending office parties are considered to be at work until the supervisor leaves. The court issued its ruling in the case of an employee who filed suit for damages sustained as a result of a head injury at a company Christmas party. The case was filed by a man who's employer, an insurance company, refused to pay disability for his injury. He slipped on the steps of a restaurant after an office Christmas party.
