A German letter carrier stored almost 2,000 letters she was supposed to deliver in her apartment because she felt too physically overwhelmed by her job, police said Friday.

In the span of six months, the 26-year-old-woman, who worked for a private mailing company, had hoarded 1,900 letters in her apartment in the southern town of Erlangen.

A woman's acquaintance alerted police after he discovered the mail when he went to her apartment to feed her rabbit.

Most of the letters had to be returned to their senders, but some could be delivered to their addresses.

The woman may be charged with embezzlement.
