A teenage Harry Potter fan has won the chance to do the only interview with JK Rowling on UK television, just hours after her sixth book goes on sale. Owen Jones, 14, from Cardiff, was shortlisted from thousands of fans after judges liked his list of questions for the author.

The Xinhua news agency in China quoted a sex expert who claims the Chinese know little about the subject of sex. In a seminar, Xu Tianming, president of the China Sexology Society, announced, "In the survey we conducted, not only youngsters but many grown-ups are sex idiots, which is really dangerous and woeful. "

Doctors are trying to save the life of an 11-month-old baby shot in the head by a bullet that fell from the sky Monday night. Police believe the bullet was fired into the air as part of a July 4th celebration. Baby Alyssa is currently being treated at UNM Hospital in critical condition, where she underwent surgery to help repair the gunshot wound in her head and shoulder. She remains in pediatric intensive care.

A man is arrested by authorities who claim he was interferring, after saving a swimmer caught in swirling river currents. Dave Newman disobeyed repeated orders to leave the water. After rescuing the swimmer, he was charged with interferring with public duties. After Abed Duamni, 35 of Houston, Texas thanked Newman for saving his life in front of the police, he was taken into custody and later released on $2,000 bail.

Linda Marks is a Florida psychic who has recently gained notoriety, not for her success as a psychic, but for her lengthy rap sheet. Marks was previously sued by over a dozen former clients who say she stiffed them out of over $1 million when they visited her Delray Beach business. She and her husband, James, pleaded guilty in December 2002 to reporting their car stolen to defraud their insurance company. They were placed on five years' probation.
