Prosecutors won convictions against three men for raping a 3-year-old girl in 2005, one of the men is the child's father and the other two are family friends. The child's mother earlier pleaded guilty to child exploitation charges and is serving a 10-year sentence, the girl is being cared for by her maternal grandmother, who was the first to report the abuse after the child complained that she had been injured.

A jaded husband took revenge on his wife and her lover when she told him she was leaving to be with the other man. Robert Avery McClain, 34, a Los Angeles Deputy, was charged with aggravated mayhem, torture and sodomy after holding the couple at knifepoint in the leasing office where the wife, whose name has not been released, worked.

Pennsylvania's Washington County police have charged an 11-year-old boy with 27 traffic violations, endangering another person's life, resisting arrest and fleeing an officer after he was caught in a high-speed chase on Sunday. The boy, who was not named, was also detained at the Washington County Juvenile Probation Office.

The U. S. Mint unveiled on Monday four new designs for the penny to celebrate the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth. It also marks the 100th anniversary of the production of the Lincoln cent. The first redesigned penny will roll out Feb. 12, 2009. The remaining three designs will be released every three months after.

Australian scientists from Sydney IVF, a fertility firm, got a license Wednesday to produce cloned human embryos. It is Australia's and the world's first license to obtain stem cells from cloned human embryos. It is expected to generate controversy in medical research over ethical issues.
