A federal judge rules Tuesday "intelligent design" cannot be mentioned in biology class in a Pennsylvania school district. Judge John E. Jones III rules Dover Area School Board members violated the constitution when they ordered its biology curriculum must include the concept that life on Earth was produced by an unidentified intelligent cause.

Prosecutors say a 15-year-old boy allegedly murdered his father and then set their house on fire because he was afraid of how his father might react when he found out he had failed some classes. Ryan Watts is charged as an adult in the death of his 50-year-old father, John Bruner.

In order to save his life, a veterinarian outfits Hermie the Turtle with a set of braces. Zookeepers at New York State Zoo in Watertown's Thompson Park obtained the turtle in May. They noticed Hermie was having trouble eating. Tests showed he was unable to close his mouth completely, making eating a struggle. His lower jaw was actually growing downward, reports The Associated Press.

The Kingdom Life Christian Church wants to evict its Adult Video store tenant. The church bought the building in 2003 for $245,000 in an effort to force Video Pleasures to close. But owner Michael Friend remained in the building by exercising a three-year lease agreement he had with the previous owners.

A 91-year-old has lost a $887 bet on his life. Arthur King-Robinson bet on odds of 6/1 that he would be dead by the end of the first week of December, a bookmaker says Saturday.
