Five people were killed and eight others injured on Tuesday when thunderbolts struck them in different villages in the Tangail and Sherpur districts in Bangladesh.
The BDNEWS, a local news agency, reported that Monwar Hossain (14), Jahangir Alam (15) and Ehsanul Haque (14) were killed by lightning at Kalihati, Dhulutia and Amjani villages under Gopalpur upazila in Tangail district.
Furthermore, Abul Kashem (30) and Mojibar Rahman (32) were killed when lightning struck them while they were working in their yard with three others in Sherpue district.
In the U.S., a student was struck by lightning on Northern Arizona University's campus Sunday. According to the Arizona Republic, Zach Cuppy, a freshman, was playing football with friends outside a dormitory when he suffered an entrance and exit wound during the lightning strike at 3:30 p.m.
