A British woman woke up with a strange foreign accent after she recovered from a stroke on Tuesday. Linda Walker lost her distinctive Newcastle accent while in the hospital and found herself with a mixture of Jamaican, Canadian and Slovakian accents. Mrs. Walker, a 60-year-old former university administrator, could be a victim of Foreign Accent Syndrome. This is a phenomenon that happens sometimes with patients who suffer a brain injury. They suddenly find themselves speaking differently.

A recent survey of animal shelters across Ohio says that the outlook for sheltered dogs has improved in the last decade more than cats. The Animal shelters reported that, since 1996, the number of dogs they received decreased by about 16 percent, while the number of cats taken in increased by nearly 20 percent, a press release of survey said.

A woman who was making additional income by growing chicken and selling eggs to supplement her disability income was constrained after complaints of crowing roosters from disturbed neighbors. The northwest Arkansas community of Rogers came up with new laws and restrictions in keeping birds at home in the city limits.

A woman accused of hitting a dog breeder 30 times in the head with a dead puppy has been charged with two misdemeanors but was reimbursed for the $100 puppy. Lisa Lynn Hopfer, 33, was told by a veterinarian that her newly purchased Chihuahua puppy was only four weeks old and too young to be away from its mother. Before she could return the puppy it died.
