Elated by record sales, a Taiwanese lingerie business has asked all its female staff to report for work in their under garments for a day.
Declaring November 21 as Camisole Day in celebration of its record sales, the Audrey Underwear company in Taizhong city, asked its entire female staff of 500 women working in the firm's headquarters to wear nothing but camisoles and underwear.
"We introduced eight new camisoles into market and sold more than 20,000 in less than two months so we named the 21st as Camisole Day," Huang Bihui, PR manager of the company, said in explaining the company's unusual directive to its employees.
According to Audrey Underwear, about 90 percent of women showed up in their underwear.
"I have been on a strict diet to get ready for the day," Zhang Yufeng, 32, a mother of two said. "When I was trying on my outfit at home, my husband told me I should dress like this every day."
"The men were red-faced all day, and were becoming so polite to us," Liao Wenshen, 30, another female employee added. "It's so funny!"
However, company lawyer Wu Juanyu is not too pleased with the company's move.
"Some women may feel forced to join in because of peer pressure and job competition," said Wu. "I don't know if the company is selling underwear or women's bodies."
