A man who entered the lions' enclosures in a Kiev Zoo shouting and questioning the existence of God was mauled to death by a lioness. "The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

A Floyd County ordinance in Kentucky could strip an Appalachian family of its pet lion by Friday. The Collins family owns a more than 400 pound lion which the family considers "kitty. " To some neighbors of this family, the animal is a source of menace.

To some, he is a frightening menace. To others, he is the local mascot. But, to one family, he is just a pet, Kitty. Kitty, the 400 pound lion, who stays in a 300 square foot cage, may not be able to stay in that location much longer.

A wildlife officer shot and killed a female mountain lion after she attacked a 7-year-old boy hiking with his family. The 80-pound cat bit the boy's head, causing puncture wounds and scrapes on his legs, which likely came from the animal's claws.

A mountain lion got a little too close to an Altadena neighborhood and was tranquilized and removed by authorities, much to the relief of local residents. According to California Department of Fish and Game spokesman, Steve Martarano, reports of the lion came in around 7 a. m. , resulting in a nearby elementary school being placed on lockdown.
