In the rural Alaskan town of King Cove, officials have listed an old school in the area for sale on eBay. They hope to fetch a $1.8 million price.
Officials tell Reuters that the Aleutians East Borough placed the school in the southwestern Alaska coastal village of 725 people up for sale to make the possible new owner take the benefit of the 43,000-square-foot building's location on the waterfront in the midst of Alaska's biggest commercial seafood harvests
"We have salmon, halibut, cod, crab, pollock, sablefish that's right outside the front door of the school," borough spokeswoman Karen Montoya told Reuters.
The school is at a starting bid of $400,000.
This is the first instance that a school has actually been placed for bidding on eBay says spokesman Dean Jutilla.
So far, there are still no bids, although it has generated hundreds of hits and cold calls from potential buyers.
