A 2-year-old rat terrier dog named Daisy, who disappeared from her home in Colorado, was reportedly found seven months after in Knoxville, some 1,300 miles away.
The dog was spotted by Tracie Crass as it wandered down her sidewalk on Christmas night. Crass then brought the pooch on her porch and waited for its owner to come looking for it.
According to AP reports, Crass then telephoned the number on Daisy's rabies tag and reached Daisy's veterinarian, who contacted Daisy's owner, Vonda Lundstrom of Aurora, Colorado.
"The kindness of people gives you a reason to believe," Lundstrom said. "It's the best Christmas present."
Daisy flew home on Wednesday with help from Knoxville's Young-Williams Animal Center.
The owner had no ties to Knoxville and assumes somebody stole Daisy.
