A lost pet parrot was returned to its home safely after reciting his name and full address to a veterinarian.
The Associated Press reported that Yosuke, an African grey parrot, was found on a neighbor's roof and turned over to the police who kept the bird for a day before turning it over to a veterinarian.
The parrot kept quiet with the police, but after a few days at the veterinarian's office, he began speaking his name and full address, down to his house number.
Authorities looked into the address the bird cited and found that, in fact, the family who lived there had lost their pet parrot.
The Nakamura family said they had been teaching Yosuke to recite his name and address for two years.
African Grey Parrots are said to be highly intellectual and capable of reading emotion. They have been kept as pets for 4,000 years.
