With his mother suddenly passing out while cruising at 70 mph along a three lanes of traffic, a nine-year-old boy took over the steering wheels of their car before parking it to safety. Jonathan Anderson said the car lost control and hit the road's central barrier when her mother, Marion blacked out while they were traversing the A38 in Plympton, Devon.

A talkative parrot who was never lost for words, lost his will to talk after straying in the wilds of Cambridgeshire for four days. According to his owner Cedric Tunnell, 66, Harley, an African Grey, loves to call them "Mom" and "Dad", could recite his telephone number and was constantly talking all of the time.

A hospital in Finland is in hot water after one of its patients lodged a complaint after finding a mouse head in his plate of steamed vegetables. While the health of the patient in Joensuu, eastern Finland, whose name was withheld, had not been endangered by the dead rat, Sakari Kela, chief administrator at the Northern Karelia Central Hospital said it was "understandable that he lost his appetite. "

It was supposed to be a theft-proof car, the pride of Berlin police force, until a thief simply drove it off. The high-tech BMW worth $147,000 police car which is equipped with high-tech surveillance equipment and sophisticated electronic locks and immobilizers to make it theft proof, was stolen in the city's Wedding district after officers left it unlocked with the key in the ignition.

Almost half of young Brits don't know how to boil an egg. The survey, conducted by British Egg Information Service to mark the Farmhouse Breakfast Week, revealed that only 51 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds are aware that it only takes three minutes to soft-boil an egg.
