The researchers at University of Nottingham proved an old belief that money can't buy happiness wrong. Their study found that winning millions does make lottery players extremely happy. The study, conducted among the lottery players, also revealed that 20 per cent of winners, who were previously single, had ended up getting married in a short time.

A couple aged 68 and 73 who won $4. 8 million in Saturday's Lotto said they would stay in their house and will leave their lifestyle unchanged despite their newfound wealth. The "noveau riche" pensioners identified as John David, 68 and his wife Pat, 73, of Portsmouth, Hants have insisted on driving their old car, a Vauxhall Astra.

Nine Indiana auto part workers whose factory will close at the end of the year, rendering them unemployed, won the $9 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot. The nine men, all of them current and former Delphi Corp. employees, contributed weekly to pay for tickets worth $50 in the lottery. All of them remained patient, for more than 15 years and never gave up their dream of winning.

A Malaysian man says his deceased grandmother provided lottery numbers in a dream that won him $11,580. The Star newspaper reports mechanic Tan Tay Seck bought two tickets with the numbers 6-0-6-4 on them. But a thief ran off with his wallet, which contained the second winning lottery ticket.

Tom Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana did not cash in his $5 scratch-off lottery ticket right away. He actually waited several months. But when he did try to claim his prize he was told it was too late. According to CNN reports, Smith filed an appeal with the Indiana State Lottery Commission in 1996 saying he was not aware of a time limit. When his claim was rejected he sued the agency for damages.
