A Chinese businessman in Qingdao, Shandong Province has been barraged with incessant calls from strangers to his purchased telephone number, 66-666-6666, a number which in Chinese culture should bring good fortune.
China Daily report said that a man, surnamed Lui, purchased the phone number from one of his friends last year.
He paid 10,00 yuan ($1,300) for the said phone number.
China Daily report said that many callers dial the number out of curiosity to see if this lucky number is in service or, believing that the owner of such a lucky number must be wealthy.
Chinese pronounce number 6 as "liu", sounds like "flowing", "smooth" or "slippery" which also mean "everything goes smoothly".
Number 6 is also considered as one of the luckiest number in China.
Lui now hopes that he can get out of the troubles by selling the said phone number to someone else.
