Authorities at Madrid International Airport, one of Europe's busiest air hubs, were trying their best to nab an elusive dog for the past eleven days, finally succeeding on Sunday by calling a team of animal rights activists. Snowy the terrier became lost at the airport on Jan. 31 after arriving on an Iberia cargo plane from Britain. His owners were traveling on a separate plane to vacation in Spain. According to Jaime Perez Guerra, a spokesman for Iberia airlines, the brown-and-white pooch spent 11 days in a sensitive outdoor area of the airport where planes fly over at very low altitude. That made it a tough job for the security people to capture him who were concerned about Snowy running onto a runway.

Spanish police officers congregated to watch a video presentation on promotion methods, were instead shown a clipping from hard-core pornographic film, authorities said Tuesday. Computer technicians blamed the glitch on a virus that got activated as the video was turned on. The incident happened Monday when nearly 120 Madrid city police officers gathered at an auditorium to see the video on operations at an academy where they are to study, the Madrid regional justice and interior ministry said.

In an industry first, a top-level fashion show in Madrid has banned models who are too thin. The move has resulted in a furor among modeling agencies and increased the possibility of restrictions in other venues. Madrid's fashion week responded to protests that young women were aspiring to copy the models' rail-thin looks and adopting eating disorders by rejecting underweight models.
