More Defendants Opting To Self-Represent In U.S. Courts

The high cost of lawyers' fees has resulted to a rise of Americans handling their own court cases, with assistance from legal self-help sites and groups. The kind of self-handled cases has gone beyond civil cases involving small amounts of money to domestic problems, divorces and child custody matters, according to the National Center for State Courts.

The blog that caught the attention of Silicon Valley CEOs is calling it quits. 'Fake Steve Jobs' is moving onto a new job and Hollywood. The blog, "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" is shutting down after its author said he no longer wanted to make fun of the controversial CEO of Apple. Daniel Lyons, a former Fortune magazine editor, said he's heading to Newsweek and will be blogging under his own name.

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons is embroiled in a public divorce, complete with his estranged wife, Dawn, requested the court to open the sealed divorce filing. Dawn Gibbons has accused the governor of carrying an affair with another woman often seen with Jim Gibbon. The governor denied the accusation and maintained the unnamed woman is just his friend.

Although Time Magazine proclaimed the death of the term yuppie, or young urban professional, in a mock obituary in 1991, groups continue to flourish across the globe, while the age limit has grown older. Following the rise in the number of 40-somethings attending young professional gatherings some organizations have formally upped their maximum age limit to 45. The Boston Young Professional Association is one of them. BostonEventGuide. com reported a growing number of inquiries about yuppie events from older professionals, said Jeff Popkin, the website's founder.

Study: Computer Keyboards Can Be Filthier Than A Toilet Seat

Consumer magazine Which? has found that computer keyboards can be a home to bacteria that may cause food poisoning symptoms and stomach upsets. Tests made on 33 keyboards at its office here showed four posed a health risk, with one being host to five times more germs than the office's toilet seats.
