A Chinese advertisement for a freckle remover was banned after those who used it complained of rashes, blisters, skin irritation, and colored spots. The Shanghai company promoting "Magic Freckle Removing Gel" said it used American technology to make the product, which was later discovered to be false.

A New York animal shelter is asking veterinarians to open their hearts and their pocketbooks to help two deformed puppies. The two-week-old puppies, named Magic and Merlin, were born with cleft palates, which prevent them from sucking and feeding themselves.

A Nigerian man suspected in the murder of his brother told the police that his attack was actually aimed at a goat. The man says the supposed goat, which he attacked with an ax, magically turned into his sibling's corpse, authorities said.

An estimated 2,000 magicians from around the globe, from China to the Virgin Islands are taking part in this week's World Championship in Magic in Stockholm, Sweden. A report by the AP says tables floating shoulder-high, cards sailing through the air, rabbits pulled out of habits, a table levitating were just a few of the tricks the competitors were presenting.
