Upset over a sheer callousness of government prosecutors, a Malaysian judge reprimanded them for filing a corruption charge against a policeman who died in 2005.
Scolding her subordinates by saying that two years is a long time to find out if the accused Che Amil Che Rus was dead or alive, Noradidah said, "We do not have to include a dead man in the charge. Dead people cannot testify."
According to court documents, Che Rus, was jointly accused with his former colleague of allegedly accepting a bribe of 1,000 ringgit ($292) from a relative of a criminal suspect in 2004. However, his ex-colleague who is still alive, Iskarnor Abdul Karim, faces up to 20 years in jail and a 10,000 ringgit ($2,920) fine if convicted.
The next hearing is scheduled for October 23. The prosecutors say they hope to mend the case accordingly by then.
