On Tuesday, a Malaysian woman gave birth to a premature baby girl while on a flight traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching. The baby was slated to be born on July 23.

Norhaizan, 44, gave birth to her third child late Tuesday, just 25 minutes before the Malaysia Airline carrier was due to land after a short one hour and 45 minute ride from Kuala Lumpur.

The mother was traveling with her husband and two other children when she suddenly went into labor, prompting the crew to make an announcement for assistance, according to the official Bernama news agency.

One of the passengers, a physician, Dr Wan Ali Tuanku Mahdi, helped deliver the baby.

Mahdi settled Norhaizan on the middle aisle of the Airbus.

Both mother and child were rushed to a nearby hospital upon landing, and are reported to be in good health.
