A famous San Francisco restaurant owner is offering a $25,000 reward for the return of a plaster falcon stolen from its display case from his restaurant.

John's Grill kept a coveted replica of the Maltese Falcon from the 1941 film, "Maltese Falcon," starring Humphrey Bogart as detective Sam Spade. It was a replica of only two originals that exist.

The thief, who police believe stole the statue late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, also got away with 15 vintage books, including signed copies of the Dashiell Hammett novel on which the film was based.

The restaurant calls itself "Home of the Maltese Falcon." Police are still investigating the case.
